From Mdzor @discord 08/01/22 Hello @everyone As you may have read, on 20th of July, Microsoft announced their stance against NFTs. You can read more about it The announcement had direct impact on what we are trying to build, as Dracula Metaverse, but also our Infrastructure provider, NFTWorlds. At that time, the founders of NFTWorlds (ArkDev & TempTranquil) were invited together with other projects to discuss around the new Usage Guidelines that Microsoft is enforcing. The outcome came few days after, Microsoft decided to part ways with NFT completely, and no option were left out. NFTWorlds hence had to make a choice, either pivot as a GameFi Infra Layer, or acquire a game development team and build a new and similar game engine to Minecraft. The decision was the latter, to create a new game engine, starting from open-sourced bits, which will allow us to re-use some of the pieces we built in Dracula Metaverse. You can read NFTWorlds full statement in here Few positive things we can note, the game will be Free, which means it will be easier to onboard guilds and have bigger player base. The game will leverage open source and will have a nicer engine than the one Minecraft is carrying as legacy for so many years. I personally believe Metaverse options built by big corps & VCs have less chance to succeed than the one driven by Web3 natives, and this is where I see an opportunity for us to build upon this new engine. Our team have been invited to NFTWorlds Community Founders chat, where we will do 3 things, which are : - Communication and Collaboration with other founders - Follow updates, and give feedbacks on the game engine, and possible gameplay experiences - Strengthen our common message to improve the marketing of the new incoming platform As you all know, we build best during bear markets, let’s see what NFTW is bringing us in the coming months and readjust accordingly, we will be sharing announcement when more tangible updates are available.
